Dear Bucknell Spiked Shoe Family,
Here on campus, we are currently in final exams, and it’s hard to believe, but another academic year is about to come to a close. Our outdoor track and field season is also winding down, and I thought I’d take this opportunity to update you all on the success our men’s and women’s teams have had to date.
I was very proud of our performance at the Patriot League Championships last week at the College of the Holy Cross, where both our men and women finished in 4th place among the 10 schools competing. The men finished with 94 points, a 30.5-point improvement from last year's outdoor championship, while the women scored 86 points to move up one place from their 5th-place showing at the indoor championships two months ago. We had 12 first-years among the 35 women, and seven first-years among the 35 men in our championship lineups, and with many of the points coming from them, the future looks very bright for both teams.
With just the postseason meets left, our men have added 18 new marks to our all-time top-10 list, including a new school record in the shot put by junior Wade Shomper (57-4.25). The women have 12 new additions, including a trio of new school records coming from a pair of first-year student-athletes in Alex Lea (200 [23.58] and 400 meters [53.03]) and Noelani Sadler (100 hurdles [14.13]). Alex's 400-meter time is also a new Patriot League record.
HERE are the new additions to the men's all-time top-10 list.
