MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY & TRACK & FIELD
The transformation of Bucknell's men's cross country program began with the appointment of Coach Art Gulden in 1970. Under his leadership, the team achieved a remarkable 167 consecutive dual meet victories from 1974 to 1990, one of the longest winning streaks in collegiate cross country history. During this period, the Bison secured 18 straight conference titles and qualified numerous teams and individuals into the NCAA Championship meets.
In the East Coast Conference era Bucknell won 11 indoor and 10 outdoor track & field team championships over 15 years. Since joining the Patriot League in 1990, the men's track & field team has added nine team titles, bringing their total to 35 league championships across four different conferences.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY & TRACK & FIELD
The women's cross country program commenced in 1976 and quickly rose to prominence. By 1982, the team won the inaugural East Coast Conference Championship and continued to dominate with seven consecutive titles. Transitioning to the Patriot League in 1990, the Bison women have claimed 12 league titles and finished as runners-up 10 times. A landmark achievement was qualifying as a team for the NCAA Championship in 1999.
In track & field the women's team has been equally impressive. Multiple Patriot League Championship titles have been earned including back-to-back "triple crowns" when cross country, indoor and outdoor titles were achieved in '05/'06 and '06/'07.
